Roseville looks great, Dave. I see what you mean about breaking up the commercial areas. Also that's a nice crop of plopables you chose - a good variety that blends well together. And if I understand correctly, it will be interesting, indeed, to see what grows on the West Bank.

As always, your photos are terrific and contain so much detail. You definitely have some competition-quality work there. I'm especially fond of the seventh photo - the closeup of the train station(s?) with the park at the top. Then the fourth one down from there is really good as is the last one.

The tennis courts in the park turned out really good, too, and I predict a bright future for you in LEing.

Finally, thanks for the region shots
- they went straight to the desktop as always. ::) I just can believe you still have so much empty real estate to fill up!

Until next time...
Joan

Thanks for the region views  they bring back good memories.  The Terrigal port and marina was a favourite as was the Parton Park with its island in the stream over in St Leonards ::).  And the region is looking mighty fine as Dolly may even have said herself.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that big hill in Lismore and am intrigued by the terraforming immediately to the right of Terrigal.  It's also interesting that you've not developed the quads along the river apart from Redcliff.  And you still have plenty of space to develop, which is good because I still want to see plenty of Balnavia.

And as for your skyscraper district...... It's funny, because I'm not a big fan of a cluster of such tall buildings.  I think you've done a great job and certainly as good as anyone else on SC4D.  And let's face it, a city building game is almost begging you to create such districts.  I actually prefert he later pics when you've zoomed in a bit so we can see the detail.

Nice use of parks throughout the scraper area and the GLR fits well, or should I say DLR?  The "trams" you've used are the Docklands Light Railway trains.  I use them in West End as well and in RL I was on one only last week.  They serve the old docklands area in East London and funnily enough they run though Canary Wharf which is a relatively new financial district with plenty of tall buildings.  In fact in your first pic, the building in the top right is the Canary Wharf tower (1 Canada Square) and the DLR trains pass right next to it.

Really like the train station - my only question would be that with so many workers probably using that station, maybe a larger station would be needed??

Great pic of the station and GLR/El Rail transition.  And with your new found lotting skills, how about sorting out those diabled parking spaces?  Surely they'd all be near the entrance, not scattered throughout the lot?

Great school layout there.  Had to look at it a few times to work out the fact that there are two buildings with the road serving both - nice touch.  And great use of sports facilities.  Those tennis courts are looking good.  Never seen that configuration before ;)  Where does it come from ;) ;)  It's just a shame that rugby pitch is soooo much greener.  I have exactly the same issue - maybe the groundsman goes a bit crazy with the fertilizer??

And I love the little market square outside the El-Rail station.  That is really nice.  I'm intrigued by the green and white stall.  Irecognise D66's flower bits, but the actual green and white awning - where is that from?  I want it!!

And as for the tunnel - you know, I think that a slightly different lot around the edge would look fantastic - just trying to picture an alternative for you ;)

Great update Dave - so much for us to look at and appreciate.  The little details really do add to the overall picture.

Wow a fabulous region view!

Roseville is very nice and i like the fact there is plenty of space between the skyscrapers.

Looking forward to your next installation :)

Nardo69: Thanks Bernhard. I had the diagonal fillers downloaded, they were just buried deep in my plugin folder   %confuso
But they have been uncovered and used on the West Bank. Will show in the next update. Thanks again, you always provide
great feedback.

bat: Thanks bat

Jmouse: Well the West Bank is growing and pic's will follow shortly. So far so good, I've been pleasantly surprised with what has popped up so far.
Glad you enjoyed the region shots, although I'm sorry I'm not as obliging as Paul  $%Grinno$% I like to hear you beg  :P

The empty real estate does have me worried, the blank tiles you see are only about a third of it, that's a lot of new ideas to come up with. I did say at the start that this was a huge region, but I don't think I realised how big at the time. Thanks Joan.

warconstruct:Thanks, appreciate the comments.

Pat: Don't hold your breath for the green stuff. The way demand is at the moment, and industrial area is much needed. But I'll try to throw a park or two in for you  ;)

paroch: Paul, I'm going to have to limit your replies to 100 words  ::) Seriously, thanks muchly, always appreciate your feedback.

Lismore, well I'm dreading that tile, don't know what I was thinking when I terraformed there  ??? And to the right of Terrigal, that will change a little, but will either be a marina of some description or a residential area around a series of canals.

The tiles along the river will come. To be honest, small tiles and only a hour or two's work each. There is really no rhyme or reason as to which tile comes next, large tile, small tile, depends how I feel at the time (and how much I need to use the brain  ;)).

The station, I agree, but all the larger stations I have seen are end of line and would have been difficult to fit. However that is something I need to think about going forward. Unfortunately, the station on the West Bank is just as pitiful  &mmm

Tennis courts, what tennis courts ::) OK they are my own LE work as you well know, I just don't like to advertise, I'm a shy person really $%Grinno$%

You've got me with the green and white stall. I'm sure it was part of a BSC Small Commercial set, I'll try to track it down, but if you're in a hurry, I'm sure Barby could tell you in a flash what prop pack it's found in.

The tunnel, well I kinda like those walls. Don't worry I've got plenty of alternatives but I like to drag these out every now and again  :)

Oh, and by the way, feel free to exceed to 100 word limit anytime, it's a stupid rule anyway (pity the fool who made it up   :-[)

pipishere: Thanks pip.

Roseville

Firstly, Balnavia has just passed 2m in population, who'd have thought that would happen, certainly not me.

Roseville is coming along nicely and I should be ready for an update in a day or two.

In the interim, this is my favourite pic from Roseville that I haven't shown yet.

A full update very soon.

Cheers

Dave

bat

Congrats of a population of over 2m!!

That's a really fantastic picture of Roseville, tooheys!

Looking forward to the very soon full update!

Looks like Roseville will be counted as another favorite, but the list is getting mighty long! &mmm

Do those bridges form a connection to the West Bank per chance?

Until next time...

*Edit:* I was married for 33 years and discovered that nagging works better than begging. :P So Dave, get out that camera of yours and take some traffic data shots - if you dare! :D

Dave fantastic work and shouldn't we pity you lol... As you are the one who thought of the 100 word reply lol...  OK enough of my babbling on here and I love that singular shot, the coast line is perfect!!!  OK about dependency issue you are having there and a way to avoid it in the future is to make sure you have only the plugins you are going to be working from in your folder...

  • BSC Mega Pack SG_Vol 1
  • BSC Mega Texture Pack_Vol 1
  • Whatever file next that you are modifying

So that's the idea be hind that Dave and it will be a sure fire way of tracking what you have used and there will be no false dependency reports at all....   Also if you haven't yet why don't you start a lotting thread and to show off what you are doing cause shy my fat ____ insert additive there lol...  Ohhh btw M8 im now at 164 word count lol...

I love that teaser picture Dave! Two great bridges and a great shot of the Eastbank CBD... Can't wait to see the rest comming.

Also thanks for the region views in the previous update - interesting to see the entire setting of the Region of Balnavia, and how differents part of this metropolis are linked to gether. Also from that update, I noticed the open-air theater sneaked in between the skyscrapers : what a great addition to this part of town!

So, as said in the first line: looking forward to see the Westbank part of the CBD camming....

Great work. It looks like a nice place to be. I think that shorelines/river beds would have seawalls near CBDs/Skyscrapers, for ground stability, however. Anyways, keep on!

(Regional residential population 2,082,242)

One or two hotspots but nothing the city can't handle.

Above and below shows road traffic only. Still a lot of sims using their cars although the bus fleet is kept very busy.

The light rail is well used especially on the westbank.

Not as large a commercial area as across the river. This one is all grown and turned out OK although had to
demolish a few buildings because of too much duplication.

The main residential area is also all growables. High density, but not too cluttered I don't think.

The main hwy exit on the westbank, just before peak hour  ;)

Bernhard, I found those diagonal fillers. Thanks.

Just noticed that the sims around here must really like their mini golf.

Above and below include some ave walls I put together myself (with the help of drwhats tutorial)

Next update we go dirty, the region really needs some more industry.

Until then.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave!

Well, I said I was anxious to see the West Bank, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Either you got lucky or did a lot of dozing, but you ended up with a fine-looking CBD on both sides of the water. I backtracked and found that the East Bank is still in tact. I mention this because I noticed how the 'scrapers kind of taper off toward the left side of the first photo. That doesn't happen on its own in this game, at least not for me! ::)

And that's some impressive traffic data for a city of nearly 300,000 (you are just too good to me! :D). You really should show off your transport talents more often.

The closeups are a joy to look at, and "not too cluttered" is probably the reason. I do wonder about the roundabouts on the right side of the fourth from last photo with the cutline,"The main hwy exit on the westbank, just before peak hour." Also I have to ask if Aussie Land is riddled with tunnels?! I rode through one as a child -- the Washburn Tunnel under the Houston Ship Channel -- but I don't know if it still exists. Been a long time ago! ;)

Your avenue walls look great in game, and I think you're absolutely right to start an LE thread. You just have more courage than I do! :D

As always, looking forward to more...
