Jmdude:  Glad to see you were able to work things out somehow.  I'm glad you like the packs!

Matt:  Thank you!  The photo I based parts of this one on did indeed have a peaked roof... but I kind of like the new version better.  If history is any indication though, I'm sure the idea will show up again somewhere!  ;)

Earth Quake:  Thank you!

Jason:  THAT'S where that texture came from!  ::)  It's been so long that I couldn't remember where I got it from anymore.  I always rather liked the "waffle shapes" to be honest with you.  I'll definitely check that thread.  I rarely make my own textures from scratch... I usually need a good base to start from and then modify from there.  (My imaging skills still aren't what I'd like them to be)  ;)

Well the lighting on this one is done (I think).  It's pretty simple... but here's a look:

I had hoped to have the beginning of the next one ready by now, but life did not cooperate very well this week.  Hopefully I'll be able to get a start on it Monday.  Until then...

don't worry, we can wait =P

I know how RL can be painful sometimes... >.<

Jon,
The lights look good. Simple nightlights are what a school should have (unless they've started night classes...year-round goes to the next level). Though I did like to pointed roof, I have to admit the curve is beginning to grow on me. Sorry to hear things aren't cooperating as well as they should, but hopefully they will improve soon enough. Enjoy the 4th weekend and I'll look for your next update.

bat

It's looking very great there! And great work on that school!

Jasoncw

Well, two or three years can do that.   :)

I definitely think custom roof textures would add a lot to your (or anyone's) BATs.

Hello JBSimio and thank you for all the work you are doing. I tried your 3 packs of different schools, dowloaded the 2 depencies but still have a missing part : the entrance of all schools. Could you tell me what textues (or other) are used there, or what plugin I need to check ? Thank you very much :)

Edit : Parkside and Lil Red show properly, others all have the "square brown thing" instead of this entrance (or half of the thing).

JBSimio

Allan Kuan:  Thanks!  RL isn't being too painful... just much busier than I expected it to be this summer.

Matt:  Thank you!  Things are actually going pretty well up here... it's just a very (and by that, I mean "ridiculously") hot kitchen to work in.  I guess that's the chance I take doing what I do though... :D

Bat:  Thanks!

Jason:  Considering that I've forgotten half of yesterday already, I suppose I shouldn't feel too bad about forgetting something from 3 years ago, huh?  :)

Devlyn Myers:  Thank you!  The university will be released when all the translations are finished.  I can't be any more specific than that because I'm not the one doing the translating... ;)  As the last several posts may have indicated, I am indeed working on School Pack Volume Four right now.  Volume Five is also coming to a computer screen near you!

Scorpiomaker:  I can't be entirely sure without seeing a picture of your problem.  My first guess is that you may be missing the "One Flag Many Nations" mod by PEG... although this doesn't usually cause brown boxes.  Most of the building models are pretty self contained, so I can't imagine why you would be able to see part of the building but not the entrance.  If you can show a couple pictures, I'm sure we can staighten it out though.

I've started the third (of five, I think) elementary school for Volume Four.  There are a lot of details to add... but this gives the basic shape and size of where we're going:

Not much else to say at this point.  I'm not sure when I'll have the next update ready.  I'll be working straight up until I board a plane for England next week.  After England, I'll be in California until finally coming back here to northern Michigan on August 1st.  I'm sure I'll be around before than, but I have no idea if I'll get any "work" done... ;)

I like the shape, very interesting.

allan_kuan1992

interesting, although maybe still small to be considered a new suburban-type-development school. Probably would be more classified as a rural community school with the last one?

XiahouDun

Eisenhower looks really good :D Reminds me of Bittersweet Elementary School near the high school I went to. Only thing you'd need to add before I would call it inspired by is a planetarium dome.
Current project: Movies 14

You may have meant to search for Houdini. (result of searching for XiahouDun on SC4D)

I like how it is shaping up. You have a good eye for these irregular shaped buildings (or at least some good pictures to work with). Either way, it looks like it is off to a good start, just make sure you put an HVAC unit over the cafeteria. Take it easy, and stay hydrated.

JBSimio

Chrisadams:  Thanks!  I just figured an unusual shape would be a good way to set this one off.  Especially since it's a pretty generic look in most other respects.

Allan kuan:  I never really intended it to be a large school... just another one for variety.  I suppose you can classify it any way you like depending on where you place it.  ;)

XiahouDun:  Thank you!  No planetarium dome this time... but it gives me yet another idea for later.  :)

Matt:  Thanks!  Actually, I didn't have any pictures for this one... just made it up really.  Your HVAC has been added (although I still might move it)

Not a huge update by any means, but I did manage to get the bulk of this one finished.  It is a pretty simple building, really.  I still need to come up with a roof texture that will actually fit the different angles and levels.  A few small adjustments here and there... some lights... and that should be about it.

And now it's time to go wander around on the beach for a while!   :D

heh...done that a few thousand times...Whenever I model myself into a texture corner like this I render a top view and use that as a shape basis for the texture...if the bounding box of the object matches the texture, the fit usually is a close one.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

Hey JB!

I've been following your BAT projects for a long time, especially the school packs, and I just wanted to say thanks to you for creating such awesome education-focused content for the game. Being a fellow Michigan resident (southeast, near Milford), it's nice to see something good come out of our rather depressing state  ;) . I'm looking forward to seeing some updates when you get back into the swing of things! One can never have too many schools!

-Tony

Also, check your PM inbox, I might have sent you something a while back that may help.

Jack_wilds

Hey JBSimio, Jack wilds here...

Thought I'd drop by this thread to see how things were coming along... That latest building is looking fantastic! Great work.

JBSimio

Callagrafx:  Yeah... I had basically planned on doing that.  Unfortunately, I still suck at making my own textures... so it's proving a bit more difficult than I had hoped.  ::)

Tony:  Thank you!  I did get your PM from a while ago... sorry for the lack of response.  I was fairly tied up and in the middle of nowhere for most of the summer.  I'll certainly reply in the next couple days though.

Jack:  Thank you!

Arthur:  Thanks!

Girlfromverona:  Thank you!

Well... it's been a while since I did much of anything here.  In fact, last time I was here this thread was in a different place!   &ops  Thanks for all your patience... and welcome to some new faces!  As I mentioned, I haven't finished up the roof texture for Elementary School #3 (did I even name that one yet?)... but I will do so shortly.  I thought that since I hadn't really touched the BAT in a while, maybe I should start with a building to get myself back in the swing of things.  If I had any type of attention span, that would mean starting on Elementary School #4... which would also be the last building for School Pack Vol 4.  However, I think we all know me better than that by now!   :D

This is a very early view of one of the high schools for Vol. 5.  I'm calling it Reed High School for no other reason than because I felt like it.

The idea is that there was a very traditional school that got expanded in a huge way.  What you're looking at right now would just barely fit on a 4x4 lot... and there is quite a long ways to go.  By the time this is finished, it will probably be in the 9x6 range (which I think is what Peace Church and School ended up being).  I still have to finish the additions on the east side... and I haven't even started the addtions on the west side yet.  So... as usual, I decided to complicate things as much as possible right from the beginning!  :'(   :D

More to come...
