M:  Thank-you for all that!  It's always nice to hear things like that.  Lurking in the Mayor Diaries usually gives me all the thanks I need!

Threestooges:  I understand busy... sounds like you have a pretty hectic semmester at the moment.  Good luck with your law school applications!  Just stop in when you can... no worries.

I think the main academic building is done.  I ended up with less ivy than I originally thought, mostly because there just isn't as much room for it on this building.  There are more than enough windows and other detail work, that I think having ivy everywhere would just be too much.  I could add more if necessary, but I kind of hope I don't need to.  Have a look and tell me what you think:

In other news... the Macintosh issue that has been holding the school packs up seems to finally be solved.  Next week is looking better by the minute!

Looking good  :)  If I were you, I would keep the ivy as-is, I think more of it would detract from the overall apperance of the walls.

You're telling me I get to be home for more than 12 months?

The main building looks perfect, and the ivy is just right  &apls. Thanks for the upload of the Smalltown- collectors edition. I've been eagerly waiting for that  ()stsfd()

Strechnitz

JB, the main building looks superb. It is easy to use superlatives, but I mean int. In my opinion the Ivy is abundant enough to soften the proportions and make the building less imposing for the freshmen. Yet used sparsely enough so it won't take attention away from the nice architectural elements.

in other words; what the others said  ()stsfd()

Strech,

wonderful looking building! great work!

Well, I hate to nit-pick but why does the Ivy only grow on the right side (on the front of the building)?

Because it is the right side for ivy :D

To prevent the students from escaping from the religious education wing during a particularly trying lecture. :P

Fantastic work there my friend! The details you put in are just amazing  &apls I wish I could go to a school that nice :P

Can't wait to see more!

Eddie

You're best school yet! Perfect details, with the vines and ivy growing, brick textures...it reminds me of the school from "Smart Guy" Damn. That was an old show.

Holy buckets!  I need to catch up...

Sebes:  Thanks!  I think the new paths arre definitely the way to go.

Antoine:  Not that I know of... although Colyn said he's been testing SC5!   :D

Kimcar:  Thank-you!

Cali:  Me too... if the monkeys in the basement ever rebel, I'm in trouble!

Meinhosen:  Thanks.  I was hoping not to make more ivy!

Edge:  Thank-you!  I'm glad the Smalltown upgrade was appreciated.  Part of me wanted to change more, but I'd never get anything done if I tried to perfect all the old stuff.

Stretch:  Thanks!

Bat:  Thank-you!  Glad you like it.

Oldrogue:  Gracias!  (I just felt the need to change languages for a minute)

DuskTrooper:  Danke!  (that was a German accent, right?)

Vicki:  Well... will you look at that?  I didn't even notice that to be honest with you.  Does ivy grow better in shady areas?  If so, that's my reason!  ;)  I wanted to spread it across the building but only had 6 good spots for it to grow from.  I also didn't want it to be too bunched up in one place which makes 2 of those spots no good.  I could switch the left side to the corner, but then it might look too "planned."  Or I could just tell you that I don't really have a good answer for that... it just kind of happened.

Barby and DuskTrooper:  I also like both of those reasons, too!   :D

Iamgoingtoeatyou:  Thanks!  We need to find you a shorter name... lol

Eddie:  Thank-you!

Whew... I hope I didn't miss anyone.  Thanks to all of you for all the kind words.  Not much has changed since the last pictures so I don't have anything else to show for Westlake at the moment.  There are still a lot of little pieces to make, especially for the modular version.  Personally, I picture a place like this in the a secluded hilly area, so I'm hoping to make some walls, stairs, paths, etc.  I also have a couple other things in mind that I'm not ready to show yet.

In the meantime, here's a teaser of a new SHUR Building I'm tinkering with:

This is Rau's Furniture.  It's based loosely on the Fiege Building which used to stand in my home town.  Fiege's was also a furniture place, but the building is no longer there.  I just always liked the shape of it, and this is my adaptation of that.  Oscaar Rau's is an actual furniture store that still exists, so I went with that name.  This is still very rough at the moment.  The dimensions are probably not even right yet... I've never tried to make an angled corner building like this, so I'm in new territory for me here.  This will be set up for wall-to-wall on the "straight" side.  The rest of what you see is pretty much up for grabs!  Kinda makes you wonder why I'm even posting a picture, doesn't it??   :D

The School Packs will be up soon!

I love the direction you're going with this new building. it looks like it's going to be awesome. a real neighborhood landmark type structure. nice work. My one question... is there any way it'll be set up for diagonal roads on one side? it's an over-hanging lot how others have done it (Glenni for example). I was just curious as to whether or not you had that in mind? in anycase, it's really cool looking right now.

The Fiege Building is really great looking.  I second Irfox's request.  A diagonal lot would be very cool, Maybe you could back two lots, if that's not to much to ask for.  I have always wanted to make an avenue split apart into one ways and place a building there.  So I think this wouldn't be a 45 degree lot, if you know what I mean.

Not sure if the pic makes sense, But I would like to see the lot fit there in the middle.

What ever you decide will be fantastic for me.  Your bats are always outstanding!
