kalvar - Thanks! You can get the silos right here and the train station here ;)
Highrise99 (2) - Yes. Everything is lost. Well, I actually found some ancient DVDs with backups from at least a year ago and I don't think it's worth using those old plugins. Plus, I felt like a wanted a fresh start ;D
travismking (2) - Hehe, well, this could be a good reminder for all readers to start making backups more frequently ;) Bad things occur when you least expect them so you always have to be prepared.
TiFlo - Thanks so much! Unfortunately, I lost everything on my old HDD, including pictures (taken with my camera), games, films, music, etc. Well, after all, life goes on, doesn't it? $%Grinno$%
marsh - Thank you, my friend. I already started developing a small town but it still isn't really finished :P
cubby420 - Yes, it really is. Hopefully, (after hours of searching and downloading) my plugins folder has grown to 800 MB :)
kwakelaar - For now I've only a teaser but soon an update should be posted, too :)
Tomas Neto - Thanks for the support, Tomas!

Teaser

I spent the last few days in downloading the most important plugins and choosing a good map for Pirgos v2. Eventually I decided to start developing on one of drunkapple's most recent maps, Nimpkish Lake. Big thanks to him for making this wonderful map!
It has a seaside, plains, mountains - pretty much everything I need :P The straight sections of the shore would certainly be good spots for big cities ::) Before I've forgotten, here's a view of map:

(click for full size)

And here's a close-up of the area I started developing ::)

The terrain mod I'm using is Italia. So is the tree controller. And the water mod is Peg's Brigantine. At this moment the little town you see has about 1000 residents but this number will increase soon :)
Well, this is all for now. Thank you for reading. See you soon with a full update! :)

A great start to what should be a bustling metropolis in no time given your skills.  Looking forward to more.

io_big...

so cool you chose this map...I live about 2 km from the area you started, from my house it is a 5 minute walk to the beach...

It will be interesting to follow how you go about developing this... in RL the whole region Drunkapple rendered may contain 7 - 8 thousand inhabitants, maybe you will show me a preview of what my world could become  :o  $%Grinno$% (I have always said I'm moving if we ever get a traffic light!)

Sorry to hear about your HD, I was lucky, for me it was my motherboard, and was able to recover my HD... but you can be sure my backups have backups now!  :D

Looking forward to more
Tamara

Highrise99

Glad to see you're off to a fresh start this soon.  I look forward to seeing Pirgos develop.

Yan077

Good luck for this new start Ioan, this a fantastic map, I look forward to this new region  ;)

marsh

God luck on the new start! Hope to see so much moar!   ;)

,marsh

canyonjumper

That's too bad about your HD Ioan, mine did the same thing in May. Awesome map choice though! Nimpkish is a great little lake to visit ;D

                  Your friend,
                                 Jordan
I'm the one who jumped across the Grand Canyon... and lived.

Jayster

Sorry to hear about your hard drive. Computers, can't live with them, but you can't live without them.  $%Grinno$%

Looking forward to how you fill out this region.

cubby420 - Thanks! However I doubt it'll become a metropolis in no time... My playing style is quite slow ;D
Gringamuyloca - Well, my version of the region already has more residents than the real-life one and their number is constantly growing :P Big cities should appear soon, too ;) And it's good to hear that others (like you) are making so many backups, unlike me  $%Grinno$% The worst thing can happen when you least expect it.
Highrise99 - I hope it was worth the wait :P
Yan077 - Thanks, my friend. I hope you'll like what you see below :)
marsh - Thanx ;)
canyonjumper - Thanks for stopping by, my friend :)
Jayster - Ain't that the truth? :D

Update 53 - New Beginning

So, to start off... Welcome to Oak Bay! It's a small town with population of approx. 5800 citizens and has a port which serves the other towns in the area as well. The year is 1968, that's why the pictures aren't top-quality ;D (I hope you don't mind the extensive photoshopping)
On the following picture you can see town's centre as well as the church.

Another look at the town centre

The train station

Town's school, fire station (both are located at the top), main park and ring road

Port Avenue and the port itself

Main Street and the train station (I overdid the photoshopping here, sorry :-[ )

A small quay on the shore

Another view plus some expensive houses

This is all for now, I hope you like it.
See ya in the next update!

Nice update, but I'm not too sure about the photoshoping this time.
Beautiful city and it's great that you showed it as a mosaic.

Robin

Well, I wanted to make the pictures look old :-[ Hopefully the next update won't take place in 1968 :D

QuoteWell, I wanted to make the pictures look old

To be honest, I thought it was a rain effect.  :P

Anyway, I like the town. The coast is well done and the flowers in the AVE-2 median are beautiful.

To make the picture looks old, you have to desaturate it, and maybe add an old effect, but this is more like a styled (and horrible to be honest) rain than an old effect. Anyway without the ugly photoshopping, nice update, but I think the park is a but too small, and also did such a small town of a little bit less than 6000habs needs a big seaport like that ?  ;)

Take care,
-Arthur.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Highrise99

Good raw quality update, but the photoshoping takes away from the quality. Other than that, great to see Pirgos off to a new start.

Jayster

Fantastic update! I'm curious to see how you're going to develop your region. Perhaps you might go for a realistic looking natural growth region? That would be quite impressive.

Keep up the great work!

Jayster

cubby420

To kind of echo Jayster, I'm so curious to see how you'll develop this region. Throughout Pirgos' past, we've seen mostly meticulously crafted finished products. I'd really like to see how you would tackle natural growth. With your characteristic level of detail, it would probably probably take you months to finish a tile  :D

marsh

Very cool!

If your interested, here is a tutorial on creating a vintage effect. Maybe you'll find it useful?  :P

,marsh

travismking

very glad to see you back :)

But I agree with the others, the photoshopping is not for me, I also thought it was rain, and didnt really like it. The game-city is good though, and I'm happy to see that your new region is developing nicely :)
