Hmmmm... only one comment? Well anyways, here is update 12!

In this update we will be rebuilding the main exit for the small city of Oak Point near the city of Riders Wake. Riders Wake has grown since the last time we have seen it. It now has a population of about 10,000 people which is spilling into Oak Point. From the air, the two cities blend almost seamlessly. Oak Point is a very small city of about 3,000 people. Most of them live on the other side of Roosevelt Avenue. Roosevelt Avenue splits the small commercial district from the main neighborhood.

To the left we have the city of Oak Point, the avenue going the picture is Roosevelt Avenue and this is the exit that is going to be rebuilt. On the right are some small neighborhoods that belong to the city of Oak Point. The project is planned to increase the On/Off Ramp capacity. To do this, the frontage road next to the highway will need to be moved to the right 10 meters. Home owners living near this road are very angry about this because the road will now be pretty much in their backyard. Then, the freeway will be expanded to 4 lanes on each side to accommodate the larger On/Off Ramps. Finally, the intersection with Roosevelt Avenue and the frontage road will need to be rebuilt. The total cost of this project is estimated at about $135 million.

In a few months after the project was passed, the work crew arrives. A small portion of that cost went to the home owners for the purchasing of their houses to be demolished. The crew quickly sets up the work area and starts by moving the road to the right 10 meters.

Most of this road is temporary, from the street to the right is where the permanent road starts.

The workers then move on to removing the cement wall pieces. Moving these are not easy.

At the same time, another group of workers are working on the other side of Roosevelt Avenue removing that side of the wall.

This is also where the crew begins to dig out and make room for the expanded freeway.

Here, the crew has started building the larger On/Off Ramps for the freeway.

At the same time, there are other crews rebuilding the cement walls.

The workers have now finished the On/Off Ramps on the North bound section of the freeway.

Another angle.

Here are the completed On/Off Ramps. Now the workers need to rebuild the intersection with Roosevelt and the frontage road.

Now the workers have ripped up most of the temporary road to build in the turn lanes for the new intersection.

Almost done with the project...

And now the project is done, surprisingly it was done under budget and earlier then expected.

Here is the finished area after the crew has left and new houses have been built. Grass is starting to come back and traffic has improved greatly.

Here is all of the completed area.

I hope you enjoyed this update. Once again, please please please comment!

Nice update, as always.
I don't know, where are the comments. For my last two updates I got altogether one comment. (Well, I myself also wrote very few comments in the last month, I had a lot of work.)

Congrats on moving to best sellers

That diverging diamond is nicely put together and the trees and green grass add to the look!

Also liked the removal of left-hand exits and increased ramp capacity in the previous update, as well as the step-by-step walk through of the construction.

Battlecat

That's another really well laid out interchange!

cubby420

Cool shot Jayster. I might play around with the diverging diamond soon as well. I must admit, I was totally confused until I realized you had flipped the picture across the y-axis...trying to follow the traffic pattern I was like...waaahhh. Guess I'm just that dumb  $%Grinno$%

Nego

Oh no! Someone else has fallen victim to TreSTERHW or Trees Sticking Through the Elevated RHW! ::) (I'm glad I don't have to make acronyms for a living!)

That interchange is really nice, even with the tree problem! Excited for your next update!

Nego: Not that bad of an acronym! Needs a little bit of work IMP.  ;) Thanks for the comment!

Well, since I haven't given you guys a REAL update in quite sometime, I hope this update will make up for it.

Today I present to you, not one huge mosaic, but TWO! These mosaics include the towns of Oak Point and Riders Wake. Enjoy...

And the next one...

I really hope you enjoyed this update! Once again, PLEASE comment!

&apls  &apls Your best yet! Diverse, beautiful, spread well, and those transit networks are just awesome and seamless. That sunken train station in the second mosaic...in a word...perfect.
