It's my first time commenting in this section. . . and I am really impressed with what I've seen up to this point.  There's a perfect balance between development and farm land that I saw in this video.  Will we be seeing any potential upgrades to one of the roads you showed in this episode?  ;)    (Hint: it's at 7:15 in the video.)

MTT9

Love the progress on Leeton (not sure how its speelled). The night view was really cool. The trains are looking really good. The tunnel is a great addition.

That lines near the coast can be deactivated by pressing ctrl + shift + c

By the way, which train liver do you use?

MTT9: Heh, I don't remember how's it's spelled now either, but I think you're right. Thanks a lot! I'm using Swamper77's Regional Runner

Episode 17: Seawalls

In Episode 17, I start upgrading some of the low-density suburbs in Reading into medium density, and upgrade the shores around it with some seawalls while experimenting with the Diagonal Bridge Enabler.

Enjoy!

Nice video. I enjoy the re-zoning into medium density and like your way of playing. &apls
Great idea removing the water to terraform the river.

I really like how those seawalls turned out. And the medium density is really helping. You should do the same on the other side of the CBD. I would personally move the school somewhere else, it doesn't look that nice next to that tall building...
Looking foward for more

MTT9: Yeah, it really did help. Very happy with how it turned out

Episode 18: Hospital action

In Episode 18, we do a few random fixes and changes around Reading, and build a fairly large regional hospital complex

Enjoy!

Great work Casper  &apls  I'm still a little behind here but spent an hour today on the last couple videos.

Seawalls are certainly an interesting part of SC4, definitely a difficult part, but also a very rewarding part when they turn out just right. Removing the water is a great way to get those shores terraformed right. I thought it was interesting that you modified the DBE to remove the road zero-slope properties--I would have modified my terrain mod's sea level (easier, I imagine) but i guess the result is the same. I've found that with most seawalls the best look is possible when the shore tile is close in elevation to sealevel. I like to use the same ones you use (and a couple other sets very similar) and I usually have the shoreline at only 2-3m above waterlevel. Sets with vertical instead of sloped walls can look better with higher slopes--WFK-based ones or Xannepan's Quai Seine set. I also find the river easier to terraform when the bottom isn't so far down but the water may look too transparent depending on what terrain and water mod you have installed.

When you were trying to stop a building from growing it might be easier to just remove it instead of fighting all R$$$ growth. I also sometimes increase a LOT's growth stage to an excessively high number (99) in reader so it won't grow again but existing ones remain.

A final thing I'd enjoy seeing you tinker with around here is more MMP stuff--they're another fun way to fill out a shoreline of open space and there's some great newer ones on the LEX from the last couple years.

Overall, the result of your play is a very nice-looking and functional city with a set of buildings and neighborhoods that really fit together well for a cohesive look. The green spaces, the civic areas, the transitions between neighborhoods, and the center are all very pleasant on the eye. I also find your transport network very interesting and the simulator really seems to like your style of "reduced intersections".

Keep up the great work

Now thats some demolishing! Hope there weren't many complaints.

I really like they way the city looks right now. I don't think moving the university is a good call, at least until land is truly scarce.

Looking foward for 19

For someone who doesn't seem bothered knocking down an entire neighbourhood and relocating a school to make way for a hospital, only to find out it doesn't fit and subsequently knock down another few blocks, it's rather curious you suddenly have reservations demolishing the university. Get rid of it!  ;D Or at least replace it with a more fitting buildings.

Other than that, great episodes!

noahclem: Actually, modifiying the DBE was easier, all I had to do is remove one exemplar from it  ()stsfd(). You were right about the seawalls, I've moved them down a fair bit more, as you'll see in the new episode. Setting the growth stages to 99 is definitely a good idea, I should try putting that to good use against those pesky R$$$ condo's.
MTT9: Complaints were heard, and then quickly archived.  $%Grinno$%
vortext: Hehe, maybe I'll go for a more realistic approach to demolishing that university. I'm thinking about building a new campus first, then demolishing the old one. That way, the students won't have to suffer from lack of education.. not that they would mind, I would imagine.

Episode 19: RHW Experimentation

We start building the first highway in the region, a tough job that comes with some failure and frustration, of course.

Enjoy!

Nice work, Casper, but I have a few notions:
- You forgot to place the Neighbour Connector Pieces, so you neighbour connections with the RHW won't work. See RHW-readme and FAQ for reference.
- You can demolish one end of the starter pieces. Starters are slope-intolerant, so demolishing one end would leave only one of the two starters intact, reducing this issue...
- For ramps, try the DRI method (see RHW readme). It might take a while to find out the right procedure, but it will save you from some hassle when building ramps (however, this only works for type A1 and B1 ramps).
- You might want to work on detailing with signs and lights, but I would off course suggest to do things like ramp setups first. ;)

Best,
Maarten

Great new update. I never didn't use the RHW on my cities but I'll try one of these day. I learnt some tricks very useful.

MTT9

Yet another great addition ;)

Using that space for an RHW was a good idea. I look foward to seeing how you finish the details and how you will add an interchange in such little space...

Reading has changed so much lately that i made this...

Hope you like it and i look foward for more
