The chimneys gotta be much higher. About 166,-6% of the current height.
I think Jestarr is making the main building and I'll be making the smaller stuff that go around it and the smaller buildings themselves. I might use my version with several changes as something else later.

Damn, that's impressive guys.

I think a "New City" will have to pop up to support this factory...

I have been trying to download Grimes Dairy Farm.  I have every dependency except for "BSC TexturePack - jestarr Vol 01".

That being said, if I install it, will it not grow if i don't have all of the textures?  i tried installing it, and have created almost 50 farms, and it has yet to grow.

I'm a noob when it comes to downloading custom content, so it is very possible that I am missing something basic.  I am very impressed with all of these buildings, and would love to incorporate many of them into my cities, but I am wondering if I am in over my head.

Thanks in advance!

jestarr

@Ziek:  The textures for Grime's Dairy farm are in BSC Textures Vol02 here.  It grows, but has a lot of competition, especially from the maxis farms.  I usually block all maxis farms and industrials, so don't have the problem.

I've started working with the textures on the VW plant.  The walls , windows, etc. are finished for the front half of the main building.  I'll also be working on some roof junk, however the main building, in reality, has very little, so I'll be taking a bit of "artistic" license in that area. :D  Here's a pic of the basic brick texture Scott and I will be using.  I've also added a circular catwalk to the two chimneys (not in this pic).  I've two different pics of them;  the catwalks are in one and not in the other.  I liked them, so their in. ;D  Cheers!

Citynut

Lookin good - It would not be Simcity if we just stuck to the pics only and added our own stuff to it to make it better.  :D :D I got all of my canals done so i can concetrate on this project. I just need to find out which of us is doing what. I also find it funny that the both of us started this same building the same day and not knowing the other was doing it  ;D :D ;)

Thanks for the help.  Unfortunately that brings up another question.  How do you block Maxis' farms?

(sorry for the silly questions.  I'm sure there are explanations to a lot of this somewhere on the forum, but i just discovered the forum, and have no idea where to look.  lol)

Too red ^^ Needs to be more brown.

@Ziek:  The Maxis blockers are here.  Be sure to peruse the readme. :D

@FromTheAshes:  It's only our starting texture.  Everything will be adjusted from there. ;)

FromTheAshes

Yeah, just wanted to tell you :P Before you release a building with wrong textures ;)
BTW, do you use 3ds Max or Gmax?

jestarr

I use GMax for everything.  It has its limits and foibles, but it's adequate for what I do.  In the latest headlines, I've started working on the second half of the main building.  I've merged the relevant parts of the massing model and I'm starting to add the walls.  What I have so far, is actually the easy part.  The ancillary stuff is going to be a pita.  If citynut and I aren't careful with it, we could easily max out the prop count. :P  Its definitely going to be a challenge.  I've made some large BATs, but nothing on this scale.  Anyway, here's a pic of my latest efforts.  Cheers!

This is super amazing.  How big do you think it will end up being, now that you have some of the buildings started.  No matter, I'm using it anyways!  So far so good.
And i like the progress so far on the the micro-brewery and a hops processing plant.  As for the textures, I like them already.  This will be another great addition to the game.
You are the industrial god.
Great work.

Robin

BigSlark

Wow...I can only imagine how big this building is. How many days will take to render?  :P

Keep it up citynut and jestarr!

Cheers,
Kevin

Great update  If you want to, you can send me the file when you're finished. I could add reflexions to the windows and stuff...

Thanks against Jestarr.  I have one more silly question (at least until I think of another silly question)...

I finally got the Dairy Farm to grow.  However, if it grows on a lot bigger than 7x7, the rest of the farm zones did not populate.  This was the case for all of the farm LOTS that i downloaded.  Is that the intended action?  or should there be fields around them?  Is there something I can do with these zones (besides de-zone)?

Thanks again,

Ziek.

jestarr

Ziek, the extra areas on farms are for the fields.  For the BLS, CSX, JMyers and Simgoober farms (and mine) you'll need the extra farm field lots found on the LEX.  There are 4 or 5 of them.  Many don't appear initially; they are all timed to appear/disappear seasonally, if I remember correctly.  BarbyW is more knowledgeable on this than I.  Links to them should be in the readme's included with the various farms.  Cheers!

BarbyW

SG's fields and some of mine are seasonal. Basically you need the three packs of fields from the LEX: CSX Farm Fields; BLS Farm Fields and SG Farm Fields. Search for Colyn, Barby and simgoober and you will find them.

Thanks guys!  I'll have to check for them when I get home.

@Rooker1:  The final combined lot, as I initially envisioned it, would have been 25x25 tiles.  This included all the ancillary buildings (8 I believe) and all the assorted props/textures, etc., plus roads/rail.  The building, in the above pic, has a footprint almost exactly 6x12 tiles.

@BigSlark:  For rendering time, I estimate 10 hours minimum, for the main building, and most probably (much) longer. :P  The BAT is very slow at rendering.  Total rendering time for the whole project (including tests/re-renders, etc.), 4-5 weeks. :D

Oh, if you'd accept my offer, you wouldn't have that problem man ;)
