Great pictures as always. I like the red paths and ped malls. I also love the British atmosphere from some neighbourhoods.  ;)

And the cemetery looks great too

Themistokles

Once again beautifully built! &apls I have a weak spot for the dramatic vistas of the open landscape, but this suburban style definitely has its charms as well. And indeed, it looks very British. :) My only suggestion would be to use the viaduct rail trick to make the streets look like they continued off the edge of the map.

Simmer2: Thank you very much!

feyss: Thank you! The Dutch paths work no matter what pavement texture is used.

Themistokles: Cheers! I did consider using the viaduct rail trick to give the streets that suggested appearance, however doing so causes abandonment for residential buildings on one side of the street. I believe the Sim traffic coming from the residential drives straight off the street and does not U-turn.

Themistokles

Gosh you're quick, aren't you? (not that I'm complaining, no, not at all $%Grinno$%) Well-constructed areas, as always. I hadn't thought about the one-sided dilapidation problem with the viaduct trick, so that's interesting... but, well, then they'll just have to walk! ;)

Your last update is wonderful! Perfect rural areas, perfect urban areas... Perfect MD  &apls

c.p.

Nice   I especially like the cemeteries, the collection of Aaron Graham buildings, and the white towers and park in the last picture.

manga rivotra

I love how you use the walkways and carparks into the gaps between buildings. This allows that everything fits very well.
And of course, i admire your distant view, both rural or urban, they're always splendid !
Great work, as always !  &apls &apls &apls

Swordmaster

Very nice work, but I have to complain about the soundwalls along the tracks. It's very boring for the engineer to drive between those! ;D

Cheers

Replies:

Themistokles: The one sided dilapidation also effects all housing built between a neighbourhood connection and the first intersection along that road, but it's only the side where traffic must flow out of the city.

romualdillo: Cheers!

c.p.: Thank you!

manga rivotra: That back allay space is important for mid-rise areas. Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying this MD!

Swordmaster: I think driving up and down the same train tracks is boring anyway, oh well!

Entry 47: Garforth's Downtown

A rather large entry for today! It's a smallish area but there is an awful lot of detail, let's begin.

{---}

1.

The downtown part of Garforth.

2.

3.

Using an AVE-2 mod- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26842-nwm-ave-2_t21-tree-lined-road/.

4.

5.

It's all about big, chunky buildings.

6.

7.

8.

Reddonquixote's Melbourne Library- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29691-state-library-of-victoria-melbourne-australia/.

9.

10.

11.

NYBT w2w works well for both USA and European areas.

12.

13.

FrankU's Dutch park, and plaza, set blends in well with various fillers.

14.

15.

I believe the canal pieces are from Mas71, not sure about which set it is though.

16.

17.

18.

Diagonals and roundabouts.

19.

20.

Making use of some of Bixel's skyscrapers and office blocks.

21.

Though Hong Kong styled BATs, they fit in well with European and USA cities.

22.

23.

One of the central stations in Garforth.

24.

25.

KingOfSimcity's relots make for great additions in mid-rise and high-rise areas.

26.

27.

28.

29.

Amongst the skyscrapers are smaller, greener terraced areas.

30.

All of these British terraces can be found on the LEX, they are gascooker's creations.

31.

32.

I would have started adding in British areas more sooner if I was only aware that I had downloaded these BATs!

33.

34.

Another diagonal Bixel skyscraper- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/20831-tg-sf-mckesson-building/.

35.

Mixing classical w2w with modern w2w.

36.

37.

38.

Railway sound walls for those living closer to the ground, not so good for those living higher up in the flats and skyscrapers!

39.

40.

41.

The large building to the right is Bridgewater Place, a rather iconic building in Leeds; http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/17987-ndex-its-bridgewater-place/.

42.

Clowder's Park. To the west of the park is a rather special BAT of Reddonquixote's- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28937-melbourne-arts-precinct-part-two-arts-centre/.

43.

FrankU's park set blends in really well with the grassy textures of this building.

44.

45.

A small row of NYBT w2w.

46.

47.

The downtown, like so much of Garforth, is simply crammed with a lot of detail- the product of mixing and matching disparate BATs and LOTs to see what looks interesting.

48.

{---}

And so marks the end of this lengthy entry. This Friday there will be more British terraces and mid-rise town areas. Thanks for viewing these pictures!

MushyMushy

Nice downtown you've got there! The amount of detail you manage to put in your cities without using the Lot Editor yourself is truly astounding.
One comment and one question:
- The canal set is actually by Moonlight, it's somewhere towards the bottom of the downloads page on his site.
- In picture 23, do you know what that white building is that's at the bottom of the picture and says Amoma or Arnoma or something like that on it?

feyss

Great pictures again! I espcially like the ave-2 with the trees and also the small arch in the middle of the roundabout

Also, may i ask you what is the building in the middle of the 35th picture (the BAT with the SPAR supermarket) ?

[...] Thanks for viewing these pictures!

You don't have to thank us for viewing them, I'd much rather thank you for sharing them. ;) It's absolutely breath-taking, the size and the details of your creations.

After soon having downloaded almost every building you've linked, if you don't mind, I'll ask for one more: that grey-ish building by the railway station seen in picture 26 & 27, wherefrom is it? :)
Come join me on a hike to St Edmea!

Wow, you've been busy! Great work on these updates and thanks for the links. Those cemeteries are some of the nicest I've seen  &apls

MushyMushy: Thank you! Also you are right, those were from Moonlight but I forgot. As for that building, well here it is- . One of on001222 creation's, he is quite the BATter.

feyss: Boy did it take a while but I finally tracked it down, one of Glenni's creations- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/18333-blam-aaseby-magasinet/. Funny because Glenni was one of the last people I thought of when it came to British themed buildings. Kicking myself really because he has relotted some of Ill Tonkso's work, and Ill Tonkso specialises in British buildings.

Themistokles: See my reply to MushyMushy. Also I won't thank you, you lowlife cretin  <wink, wink> <nudge, nudge>

noahclem: Thank you very much!

Entry 48: Terraced and Semi-Detached Properties

This is undoubtedly my most British entry to date, or it would be if the cars drove on the left side of the road! So strap in for repetition a la UK style!

{---}

1.

The entry today focuses on the north-western part of the city tile.

2.

3.

For these terraced homes search Gascooker's uploads on the BSC LEX.

4.

5.

6.

7.

Since no wants to live <that> close to the railway station, a row of shops emerged which somewhat blocks the station's profile and dampens the noise.

8.

9.

10.

11.

The taller terraces in the middle are MattB325's work- http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2713.

12.

13.

A path connects to the back entrances of these terraced flats.

14.

Sneaky MMP work.

15.

16.

17.

The flats at the bottom are Garrison Woods, thankfully they grow like wildfire under the euro tileset. One of Spa's creations. Link here- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/17280-garrison-woods-phase-2/.

18.

How I wish I had used my British plugins far sooner! Then again a year ago I didn't have that patience for repeated bulldozing and building plopping.

19.

The other staple of British housing- the semi-detached house.

20.

21.

Here is a link to one of Gascooker's semi-detached housing packs to get started- .

22.

For the sake of time these will only grow on the Euro tileset and only on 2x2 plots, there is a 3x2 variant but that only has two different houses.

23.

And if you are using the building plop cheat then these buildings are scattered across the list as they are named strictly alphabetically, i.e. Chester Street, Grove Street and so forth.

24.

25.

British repetition at its finest.

26.

27.

And don't forget to add some churches here and there!

28.

{---}

This Tuesday the next entry from Garforth will be a mixture of classy uptown and gritty concrete areas.

compdude787

That looks pretty awesome! I love all those houses! This is the one case where repetition looks nice. :P

Logan's station needs my RRW attention though  ;)
As soon as I have some time I will redo the rail textures to match RRW.

Repetition at its best! I especially like the way you've made the VHS Cologne look like an industrial office building by placing it in a grungy surrounding.

compdude787: Thank you!

Simmer2: Thanks! You could add that to your list of RRW work, you sure are prolific.

Schriefer: Thanks!

Themistokles: Thank you! Usually the VHS Cologne building is a good downtown filler, but it does have a grungy side to it.

Entry 49: Posh and Grungy

No captions today, I am really tired. One area is pretty posh and the other is rather grungy. I reckon I have created some of my most grungiest -- that's a word? -- industry.
