I hate myself when I miss a few updates.  ::) The last few were very good.  I really like your DT, very realistic, spread out nicely.  I see some parks, they all fit together perfectly.  Your industrial city looks very good as well.  Although, I am not too fond of using that many walls.  Oh well, still looks great.  I do, however, really like the farm, the colours are very vibrant.  Great work.

pipishere

Very nice update indeed. Greenacre looks very pleasant! :)

Travis

Great work.

I'm usually not a fan of skyscraper cities, but all the detail in there is awesome, really adds a nice touch.
I'll definitely stick around.  :)

bat: Hi Bat, reliable as always. Thanks for the comments.

Jmouse: Hello Joan, I'm working in the hills at the moment and hope to have some pic's for you soon.
I'm finding it a bit of a challenge.

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin, wouldn't have got here without my regular supporters like yourself.
Glad you like the port, there will certainly be a few more along the way.

threeswept: Thanks for the comments

patfirefghtr: Yes I have looked into the matter and have noticed that the pond is sitting on a rift in the
magnetic gravitronic expanse, in other words the land ain't quite flat. ::) You seem to be a lot more observant
when you take my advice and use your breathing apparatus  :P

Snaper: Thank's Snaper, appreciate the comments.

rooker1: Hi Robin, thanks for dropping by again, You may be right about the walls, trouble is I just find it
so hard to leave a tile untouched. Appreciate the comments.

pipishere: hello Pip, thanks for the comments.

Travis: Thanks Travis, I'm glad you liked the city.

CAM

As I mentioned previously, I have been spending a lot of my time downloading packs for the new CAM, which is now
up and running in Balnavia. Now that is done I can concerntrate on an update, which I should have soon.

I have also run Newcastle for a while with the CAM and will continue to do so for a while longer. I will then show you some
before and after pic's so you can see the effects. I have already seen some changes but didn't expect anything this big:

Demand is thru the roof, there are commercial and residential towers popping up everywhere and with the new traffic
mod, travel time is finally dropping. How you zone is going to have an even more significant impact on how
your cities look going forward. Should be fun  &Thk/(

Back again soon

Cheers

Dave

LoL Dave i know aint it terrible... I become pickie with fresh air lol... anyways that is one massive dark blue building in Balnavia... cant wait to see what more stuff pops up... lol - pat

Whoa, that is massive Dave, I bet it still took an age to be fully constructed even on super-fast forward. You should feel better inside because it grew! $%Grinno$% - made possible by the CAM.

thundercrack83

That is a huge building! I don't think I've ever seen that one before! Balnavia with CAM looks like it's going to be a sight to see! And congrats on surpassing 200 posts!

stewart_garden

Dave,

Interested to see your adventures with the CAM.  I have been considering downloading it but was curious to see what it will do to my cities, so I'll be watching for further Newcastle updates with interest.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

patfirefghtr: Pat, I've got strange stuff popping up everywhere (in the game that is), might have to delete a
few things out of my plugin folder.

Sober: I think it took a 2-3 years, quite a few smaller towers grew in the meantime.

thundercrack83: Me either, it came as a bit of surprise, especially as it has over 10k jobs.

stewart_garden: Hi Stewart, will provide some pic's of Newcastle over the next week.

Milperra

Well, back into the hills, jeez I hate hills.

With a touch of R C & I, no mighty towers will be built here (hope the CAM is listening).

Through the middle of Milperra runs one of the transport arterials between Newcastle and the next
major city, yet un-named.

At the suggestion of Nardo69, I've run a few rail lines into the industrial area. I think it looks OK, interested
to here what you think.

Note the domed buildings, level 6 & 7 HT industrial. Not all the buildings are going to be to everyones liking so
you will need to manage your plugins, no different to previously really. Just a case of experimentation and
seeing what pops up.

Well the residential areas are moving into the hills. Progress is however slow, as Balnavians are used to
living on the coastal plains and suffer badly from vertigo. Most of the house help here are retired Sherpas
who know how to deal with altitude sickness.

And for those yet to dabble with the CAM, how's that for a demand graph, scary isn't it.

Was hoping to provide another update tomorrow (Monday) as it is Bank Holiday where I live, but due to
some nasty computer problems during the past week, have been asked to work to catch up. RLS strikes again.
Anyway will provide an update sometime during the week

Cheers

Dave

bat

Another great update! Wonderful city! And nice pictures with the using of the CAM!

TheTeaCat

What wonderful updates.  &apls &apls
This is certainly deserving of a

Also it is interesting to see the effect of the cam. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this

Industry needs rail lines and your RRs look fine, but I'm wondering if they'll be connected to the neighboring city (top of the 4th photo from the end). And you're doing well with the hills, too. I love working with them, but they can be a bit tedious and will slow you down.
Elements like that behemoth of a black building are going to take some getting used to. It would take two weeks to get to the top floor in a fast elevator!
As for CAM, you can proudly take your place as one of the first guinea pigs to experience this new facet of game play.

Until next time...
Joan

pipishere

Wow....that CAM sure does increase demand! lol The tower looks a little out of place to be honest...but congratulations on growing it!

The rail lines do give the industrial areas a more realistic feel and i like the hill side homes...very nice.

thundercrack83

You know, Dave, before I thought Balnavia had it all, but Sherpas? That has to be the clincher! Balnavia has it all! And from the looks of the demand from the CAM, I think I'm going to have to start playing around with that! Great update, as always, my friend!

dave that graph is sweet i havent really looked at my graphs yet been busy trying to get the building down lol

I agree with Joan, Industry needs railways and yours looks great.

bat: Hi bat, thankyou for the comments my friend.

TheTeaCat: Thanks for the cuppa, and I'll be interested to see where I go with it too  ;)

Jmouse: Now Joan, you know me better than that, of course it's linked to the surrounding cities.
You're right, it's not the prettiest building, but Newcastle has now turned into a testing ground, more comments
in the update.

pipishere: Thanks Pip, believe me, it took a while to build.

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin. They are retired Sherpas, sick of seeing white day in day
out, they decided to move somewhere a little more colourful. Sound convincing &mmm

patfirefghtr: Just make sure you're sitting down when you do  :)

stewart_garden: Hi Stewart, thanks mate. Bernhard (Nardo69) suggested I use a bit more rail in
my industrial areas and it certainly makes a difference.

rooker1: Thanks for the comments Robin, glad you dropped by.

Newcastle

R 407k C 234k I 78k

Ok, we are back to Newcastle. Now you have all seen Newcastle at it's finest but it is now going to be
used as a testing ground for the CAM. There will be no intervention by myself, I'm just going to let it go
and see what happens.

Of course all the other areas in the region will still be planned out and only buildings that I like will be allowed
to grow. When I start my next region or I am finished playing around with Newcastle, I will then delete any
undesirable lots from my plugins.

In the meantime, we will call back to Newcastle now and again to see what is happening.

So, in the last Newcastle update, the commercial area looked like this:

After a few years with the CAM there have been some changes (some bigger than others):

Now the initial commercial highrise area will not change as it is unzoned, I have used ploppable towers with jobs.

However, the area to the right of the hwy is zoned dense commercial and you can see the cluster of new highrises
that have popped up. These include the following:

Stage ?? but with 26,383C$$$ jobs, probably the highest.

Interesting  ()what(). Stage 9 with 952 C$$$ jobs.

The identical towers in the middle are Stage 12, with 5,525 C$$$ jobs each. The square building to the
immediate left is also Stage 12 with 9,128 C$$$ jobs.

Same buildings, different view.

And of course, some residentials:

Green tower to the left, Stage 11 2,393 R$$$, brown tower to the right, Stage 12 4,167 R$$.

Stage 11 3,093 R$$$

Stage 10 1,603 R$$$ (oops, forgot to un-pause)

And something to keep Joan happy  ::),

Traffic congestion pre-CAM, and..

post CAM,. Amazing, a huge increase in population and yet virtually all congestion has been eliminated.

And of course, still something that amazes me:

So that's that, sorry it's not the most exciting update and I hope a few of you are interested by what you
see.

To all those who contributed to developing and packaging the CAM,  &apls &apls. Personally, I think
it is a great step forward and look forward to the extra challenges it will provide.

Feel free to ask me anything on how the CAM has impacted on the region and I will answer to the best of my ability.
But anything technical you should refer to the CAM thread.

See you on the weekend

Cheers

Dave

stewart_garden

Aha, perhaps not exciting Dave, but hugely interesting all the same.  I was curious what the CAM would do and I must admit to having mixed feelings about the results.  Not anything on your part Dave, but I'm not sold on some of those buildings.

For example...

Interesting  ()what(). Stage 9 with 952 C$$$ jobs.

952 Jobs?  What on earth do they do in there?  Very sci-fi ... perhaps they are experimenting on in-bred farmers?

Having said that, I do like some of the results and very much like the potential.  I must admit though, I have always liked having congested transport networks because it presents a challenge to overcome ... Hmmmm.

Anyway, thanks for submitting Newcastle as a CAM guinea pig.  I'll be back to see what else happens here, and perhaps paying a little more attention to the CAM thread.

Cheers,

Stewart

Evening All.

It would seem there are a few problems with the images in my last update. I think this is an issue with the host, and will keep on top of this (but I will need to sleep sooner or later, so it may take 24hrs to rectify) My apologises and thanks to jmyers2043 for bringing this to my attention.

Cheers

Dave

Update: Have managed to finally log into the host and it would seem that all the images I uploaded tonight have disappeared.
The two that are showing are old pic's I've used before.

Stewart, you were the last to see them, what did you touch :)

Anyway, it's 10.30pm and I have an early start tomorrow so I'm afraid I won't be able to try and fix this for another 18 hrs or so.
My apologies for the delay
