Bridge, what bridge?? :D

Robin, you have done a great job here. My favourite is at the top, the first rail bridge, beautiful

23.19 also a stand out.

The landscaping and terraforming really set the scene. Something to aspire to  &apls.

Cheers

Fantastic looking two updates of the bridges! Wonderful work, Robin!

OK so I just found your MD!...shame on me, because there is some really great stuff here! I've went through the whole thing today and must say that I'm very impressed. Your level of detail is amazing. I particularly like your rail yards, industrial areas, dockyards, and trash areas. There are also many catching downtown pics that I really like. You have something to be proud of here...kudos!

jmdude1

this is a great md. i like your use of bridges a lot, they look realistic and fit into the setting nicely. i also just found this md, i saw a pic of yours on the pic. competition thread (you got my vote!) so i came for a visit.
in pic 23.26 how did you make that road go over the tunnel entrance so close to the entrance? that looks amazing!
keep up the great work.

Madeira aka Constantina

these pictures are again wonderful and well planned

Nisha

Great bridges in very realistic surroundings. You have a good eye for detail and everything integrates so well.
I am learning a lot and believe me, I need all the help I can get. :)

:).... I haven't left a comment there since a long time (I left you in an industrial area )... I have enjoyed your start and have to say that your progresses are ... spectacular . After the general impression , I watch again carefully at each picture to detect something .... that could be improve . $%Grinno$%
Well , I can't find something apt to say .  &apls

Did you use the "natural" day/night time taking these night shots (last update) ... I wonder why ( I thought it was a pity) so many buildings aren't enlightened  ?

Have to become more regular with you .

Hello Robin,

That's a great continuation of your bridge theme!

My favourites: the highway loop and Krummbach bridge (btw, some kinds of bridges give very interesting effects if they are used on the shorter distance as their creator provided  ;))

But one thing especially needs to be emphasized - an unique and very creative using of Buddybud Sunken Highway pieces  , especially over the single rail line (if somebody doesn't know, there is no piece for single road/rail in this set - think a moment how was it done  :D)

Excellent work, Robin!

A Special Interest of my Life for the Special Interest of the Month....

My older son, Matias loves his little brother, Nicholas, very much.  He always wants to hold him, hug him and he's forever kissing him.  Here in this picture they are 18 months and 4 months old.  They are growing very quickly...almost too quickly.

Avery proud father....

Hi Robin,

It's taken me a long time to finally go through your MD.  And WOW, what an MD.  Your industrial areas are something we can all aspire to.

I also love the bridges - you must have alot of patience to do those.  The bridge in 23.5 /6 /7 is a great littel bridge but it is playing weird trickes on my eyes.  It looks as though you drive down to get onto one side but up to get on the other.  Is this just an optical illusion?

And 23.21 is my favourite.  Love that station with the houses on a raised platform above - very nice.

I'l make sure I visit more regularly in future.

Hello all,

I thought I should do all the replies before too much time passed.  I had a plan to do it sooner but RL forced me to change them.  OH well, I'm here now and that's what counts.

REPLIES,
Bongoswimp, Wow it's really nice to hear from you again.  It has been a very long time.  It's good to see you here and commenting in my MD as well.  I thought the RL bridges would be a great prelude to the ingame bridges.  As for the folding bridge, I believe it's from this city, "Hoernbruecke".  I hope that's right, the page I got it from wasn't in english.  Anyways, I hope to hear from you more often and thanks for the nice comments.

Ennedi, I'm glad you like the RL Bridge update.  Like I said above I thought it would be interesting, But never did I think it would be inspiational.  Wow.....I'm good, hehehe.  And I too think the best things happen by accident or unplanned.  I'm definately not a very good planner.

Madeira, Very nice to you visit my MD, thanks for the nice comment.  I could have added sooooo many more bridges, but these are the ones that I thought were interesting.  I'm glad you agree.

sandokan, Yes, it was like in little tour of world wide bridges, that's what I should have titled the update.  jezzz, too late now.  It's really exciting for me when I can draw in new viewers to comment, so thanks, thanks alot.  As for the industrial areas, I do try my best and it is my favourite way to make a MD.  I don't like to make rich nieghborhoods, maybe it's because I have no RL experience or maybe it's because jestarr is sooo good at making industrial BATs!!! At any rate, it's my thing and I doubt it will ever change.

thundercrack83, Thanks for stopping in, and for the nice comment.  As I have said above, those bridges are the ones that I thought were the best.  And I sure lots of people maybe thinking the ones from thier own cities are missing, but you can imagine if I did any more, I wouldn't know where to draw the line and stop.  As for what's up my sleeve.......well you'll just have to wait and see.  But I will let this slip out.  I have something very special coming very soon.

Nisha, my friendly neighbor.  I just checked out the Capilano bridge in Vancouver, I can see why you would buy a shirt as you did.  That is very high and very beautiful.  I think I may need to add that to my "Places to visit in my life time" list.  hehe  and than I could get a shirt too.  The first thing that came to mind when I saw how high the bridge was, "Holy Cow"!!!   ;)

Anyone interested inthis bridge, check out this site.

thundercrack83, (again) thanks, I'm not sure I agree, but I did try.  Some of those RL bridges are magnificent.  And mine, well, okay I guess.  Some of my cities are nearing being finished, so I will have another bridge update in the future of much longer bridges and those my friend will be nice.

tooheys, Bridge, what bridge??  :D  very funny   :D Thanks fro the wanderful comments.  The terraforming around these bridges did take be some time.  Very fustrating at times.  Just when I think I have it, I don't.  Destroying and rebuilding  ???  again and again.  But that's what the game is all about, right?  Or is it just me  $%Grinno$% I hope not.

bat, Thanks for stopping by and the nice comment.

Yoder7652:o You just found my MD, yes shame on you!!  :D Just kidding  ;) Thanks for taking your time to go through the entire MD and I'm glad you like it.  And thanks for the kudos, I'm collecting them, hehe.  I hope to hear from you again soon.

jmdude1, Thanks for stopping in also.  I think that's the point to those other special threads is to draw more people into your own MD, if you have one.  ;) And thanks for the vote.  As for the answer to your question, it's Marrast Mtel lot which can be found on STEX.

Madeira, (again) Thanks again for the nice comment, as for the planning, I never plan anything.  But I'm glad it looks like I do.

Nisha, (again), Thanks for the nice comments and when will you start a MD, I can't seem to find one from you.  I highly doubt you need to be taught anything.  Hope to see something soon.

Badsim, it's very nice to hear from you again, my friend.  I hope your summer went well and now you can relax a little and share some more of your wanderful city with us. Just between you and me (and anyone else who reads your reply) I plan to finish this region, which is almost done and delete SC4 from computer and start all over again with very specific bats.  I will be putting everything through the LE and changing their lots to match a side walk mod and this time build my city very slowly just as you have.  This time around I will not be settling for anything less than exactly as I want it to look.  I figure I have many more years of play in me and this game.  Your MD is something I will strive to reach.  I think I now have some basic knowledge of LE and maybe with your help, I can learn the rest.  Anyways, thanks for stopping by and I hope to hear from you again soon.

Ennedi, (again), I'm glad you like the continuation of the bridge theme.  I don't know if I really have a favourite bridge or not, but one thing for sure is the custom bridges are much better than the Maxis ones. The Buddybud bridge mystery, if it a mystery for anyone, I'm going to give that one some more time before I explain that one.

kimcar, glad you stopped by and like the bridge updates.  I think I like the rail bridges better than the others.  I took my time in places those a little more.  See you again soon, I hope.

NASCAR_Guy, I wasn't sure how to take this comment until I relooked at the picture.  no that's not a wig although I can see why one would ask.  My son had just woken up and he still ahs baby hair so it's very fine and light, it stands up very easily.  hehe

nedalezz, thank you very much, I am a very proud father and I'm glad you like my updates too.

paroch,  thanks for taking your time to go through the entire MD, that must have taken a long time.  ::)  As fro that bridge you speak of.  It's not an illusion, it is exactly as you say.  On one side it is a raised highway and on the othe it is on the ground.  I used the new on slope highway pieces and a lot (and I mean a lot) of patience.  Give it a try some time, the result is worth the effort.

Wow.....that took me a very long time.  I have never had this many replies before.  Although it feels like it took for ever to do these replies, it was kinda fun at the same time.  So keep the comments and suggestions coming.

Now I would like to warn everyone about my next big special surprise.  So watch closely as no one will want to miss this one.

Thanks man. Found the "Hoernbruecke". But it is located in Kiel, Germany. Not in Netherlands.

This is a great new , Robin ! I think you're one of those are reading carefully what I'm saying on my MD so I believe that you've evaluated what you're going to start .
Years -  hours per mil - of work indeed.

I think that you've got the capacities , can't speak about your determination . I could tell you a few things more about this , but frankly , if I had known exactely what I started , I wouldn't  have started . So the best for you is that I don't say anything more about this .

My only advice so far is to use medium city tiles . I know that currently (with my current recent computer and  4Go of RAM - more wouldn't help , due to Windows -XP - limitations to allow more than 3Go to a single program  ) I'll be unable to achieve my large city tile (2010 ?) .But I'm intending to be there for years too ...  ;D

For anything else (about LE and props principally , soon X-Tool with its multiple windows LE , I hope so ...) , you can ask , ask and ask .... by PMs and  my personal e-mail address as well. ;)

Go ahead , Robin !

Spectacular pictures you're showing here.
One question: The Highway-Access on the 5th picture, how did you create that one, using those ploppalbe Underpasses? Did I miss a new release, or did you mod that one yourself?

Hello again to all,

I will do replies later tonight. As for now this seems to be a good time for my Big Special Surprise.
As everyone can plainly see that MD is in "Of Special Interest this Month", I am doing my best to keep it very interesting and special.

So here it is,

I am going to hold a contest that will last for the rest of this month only.
There will be ten pictures altogether from people's MDs and BAT threads in each round.  All pictures will be from SC4D only. (this site)
All you have to do is be the very first to tell me two things, their username and the name of his or her thread it came from.  The answers must be in order with the pictures as they appeared.
The very first and only the very first person to correctly name all ten pictures from that round will be the winner.  I will donate to SC4D ten Canadian dollars in his/her name.  Unfortunatley, once you have won a round you can not play again.

There will be five rounds, so if you don't win the first, watch very closely for the other rounds this month.

I also dare anyone to match my donation per round or any amount at all.
In the end I will be donating a total of fifty Canadian dollars, five rounds at ten Canadian dollars each in the names of five different people.

One Example

Answer,
Badsim, AntigOne

Good luck to everyone and the pictures will be posted later today.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.
