Dragon - Is possible that you still have the old textures somewhere in your plugins? Perhaps a copy in a folder that you don't know about? And that perhaps it is loading after the proper textures hence taking precedence?

Another possibility is that you have a duplicate copy of the CalFame lot? I am just throwing that out as a possibility because I've done that sort of thing more than once in the past. I know that I have some searching ahead of me whenever I know for a fact that I have all the depdencies but the lot still doesn't show up properly.

At any rate – JesStar gives good advice about trying to remove everything from the plugins with the exception of the CalFrame lot and its dependencies.

jmeyers hit it right in my case...I had the same problem awhile back and found I had 2 for the price of 1 packing sheds in my plugins.....sheesh.

the joys of being old :bomb:

no dupes, but i just realized: i have the texture pack from ST!!

D'OH!

jestarr

Yep, that'll be the problem. ;D

Quote from: jestarr on November 30, 2007, 07:39:53 PMAs for "show and tell", I've been experimenting with different methods of modeling.  This is a pic of my building experiment.  The walls don't have a back, so it's a "wysiwyg" type thing.  The walls are extruded lines that are converted to editable mesh.  I then removed the top and bottom polys and cut window/door openings with a boolean operation.  Seems to be working fairly well so far. ;D  Cheers!

Try using the Offset Tool on your spline to make a second spline inside the first.  Then after you extrude, you have inside faces to your walls, and you can still do the booleans for windows and doors.  You need inside faces to your wall to avoid light leaks when you night-light the thing.

And again you have some great new projects going. I am getting more and more fond of building industrial quarters.

And you are to blame for that! ;D

great work Jestarr!

I know this new model is a test, but it looks like it could be useful.  A manufacturing building of some type or ven another residential building.   ;)
As for the CalFame lot, I have no problem with it.

Robin
Call me Robin, please.

dragonshardz

yeah, getting the parking textures off the LEX fixed it.

oldrogue:  The explanation seems somewhat convoluted, but in practice it's not very difficult. :D

ardecila:  If I continue with this and finish it off, I'll do that.

Strechnitz:  Thanks!  I'm glad you find them of use.

rooker1:  If I finish this, it'll probably end up a R$$ condo/apartment building.

dragonshardz:  I'm glad it's finally working for you. ;D

Also, Geere Robotics has been uploaded to the LEX.  Cheers!

dragonshardz

another thing for the DP to pack!

jestarr

So, I decided to play with this, at least a little longer. :D  I've been adding, subtracting and moving things a little, looking to see if I liked it or not.  I've added some windows and ledges to the "towers"; they seemed a little bare to me.  I may add some kind of decoration in the middle, if I can come up with an inspiration.  Anyway, here's it's current state.  Cheers!

Very intriguing....I love the little odd shaped whassis (penthouse?) in the roof junction, just the right shampe against the angularity of the rest.  Neat so far.

dragonshardz

i forget....what is this?

ardecila

Hmm..  the octagonal penthouse needs to be larger.  At that size, it wouldn't be visible from ground level.  I would make it large enough that the flat sides merge with the walls of the building beneath.

jestarr

It wasn't actually meant to be a penthouse.  I was toying with the idea of it being a small bar/restaurant, with outdoor seating, etc.  I just got sidetracked and never got that far. :D

figui

i think both are great ideas (ardecila's one of making the octogon larger, and yours of a restauran't)

jestarr

I suppose both versions wouldn't be bad. :D  Maybe a building family with two or three versions.  Also, Black's Ice has been uploaded to the LEX.  Cheers!

Thanx Jestarr.
I just download Black Ice and I can't wait to see it grow.Thanx

You're welcome BB and I'm glad you like it.  OK, moving along.  A friend obtained a new structure, from Pine Canyon Models, for his model railroad layout.  I liked the picture and having a little time today, I started on it.  The model is called Forley Lithographers, although that's probably not the name/industry I'll use it for.  I'm having to wing it, on the sides and rear, as the model is a "flat".  This is a model that has a front, but the sides and roof are cut off at about an inch long and there's no back at all.  These are used on a layout, against a backdrop, to simulate a larger town, without taking up a lot of space.  As usual, pay no attention to the textures, etc., as it'll all change.  Here's a progress pic for your perusal.  Cheers!
