Okay - the bad news: The regular Update is still not reade ...  :'(

The good news: Another construction site report (and the answer to the question why I'll never set the world record in MD updating  ... )

I confess, concerning LE etc. I am rather ... lazy. If not necessary I prefer to play the game with what I got. But sometimes you got some corners that just won't fit together...  ()sad()

And after hours and hours in Reader and FiSHman and PaintShop and SC4Tool and LotEditor and LEProp and Reader, just when you finished that necessary dozen lots and plopped it where they should be ...

... then you see that you need a new terrain mod as the current one just ate up all your work ...
And not only this, the No-jagged-diagonal-edges isn't working as expected, too!  /wrrd%& Most probably one day I have to make me my own ...

Sometimes even the watertexturebug has it good side: at least you can see what I did today ...  %wrd

And: the grid is on becouse these are technical shots!

Well, the (recent?!?= final results. I may do some more terraforming and finetuning here ...

From another angle it looks better as the wood has mercy to hide the worst corners ...

An overview. If you went up the river a bit at the ride side of the picture you'd see the water power plant I just burned recently  in the Simforum Picture Competition.

Another patient: THIS IS NOT A CONIFEROUS WOOD! At least it doesn't look at all like the Blackforrest wich isn't bay far not that ill that you would see the sun-sensitive trunks!
Unfortunately real nice MayorMode Coniverous trees are rather rare ...

And for the sake of completeness the picture from the Simforum Picture Competition.

Initially I wanted to use this map for the village competition but with my concept I finally got 5000 inhabitants ... anyway ...

That's it for today - answers, replies etc. tomorrow, it's 2:15 am here

Have fun!

Bernhard

I really liked this update, Bernhard. No worries about the regular one being ready.

I think that the final result of the path looks really nice, even if you can't see it very well. I also am really liking that forest you have created, and there is a nice variety of trees. I also really like that shot of the houses by the lake, it is very beautiful.

I'm always impressed with the beauty of your cities!!! This pics seem with real pictures of a city, and don't something done in a game!!! Awesome!!!
I'll be back for to see the regular updates!!!

Battlecat

I've been noticing my copy of the no jagged diagonal edges mod is a bit twitchy as well.  I suppose that's just part of the game these days, but it can be problematic.  You've done a pretty nice job covering it up!

You've got a couple of great scenes here, looking forward to your next update, whatever it might be.   :)

Awesome little details there the track looks great

Some late Answers & Replies and a Bad News:

Ok, Bad News First:

The reason why I was able to restart Urland about one year ago was the release of Windows 7 beta / Windows 7 RC. On XP during an update the soundcard driver was updated, since then SC4 is CTD whenever your plop something or zoom / scroll too much. I tried to reinstall the original driver but with no success. Either I am not clever enough to replace the sound card driver properly or it is another problem.

In 2 days the lifetime of Windows 7 RC as a prerelease will be finishing and it will start to close automatically in intervalls that will become shorter and shorter untill it finally won't start up again. This means the end of my Sc4 activities because I simply don't have the money to buy Windows 7 not to speak of a new pc. Maybe I am going to get SC4 eventulally working on XP again but at the moment it does not look like this at all.

I'll have some more or less older not shown material from the last month that may become some updates, and I think I'll get that promised update going, but the future of Urland after the next two or three months is not certain at all...

Anyway, there are Answers and replies to do so:

Fabian93: Thanks for the compliment! :)
Yes, the non slope conforming lot did some bad things with the soft slope of the hill, but after blowing up a couple of other farms doing even worse damage I decided to keep this one... should've done some camouflage though ...

bat: Thanks for the compliment! :)

TheTeaCat: Thanks for the compliment, Derry, and there was another non update ...  ::)
I haven't forgotten our small little project just my private life ... Ironically though but on XP all SC4 tools are working but not SC4 ... ;)
Hopefully I can try your tipp with the Rye one day ...

Battlecat(1): Thanks for the compliment! :)
The field edges were the first but by far not the only reason why I love the RRP.
Terraforming that creek through the village was really a pain in the ***. And further upwards in the narrow gorge it'll be even worse ...

Tomas Neto: Thanks for the compliment! :)

canyonjumper: Thanks for the compliment! :)
I am just sorry that I don't know what will be in some months ... :(

Nardo69:  :P

ecoba: Thanks for the compliment! :)
I just wish I would've been more ... evident ...  ::)
I don't have much pictures from this map as it is rather young and unfinished - should've been my entrant in the first Thematic Competition but I missed the inhabitant number by 3K+ ...  :D

Tomas Neto: Thanks for the compliment! :)

Battlecat: Yes, it is always the small detail that need so much detail and so often you just don't see it later, isn't it?
I hope the next update will be "the real one"

penguin07 Thanks for the compliment! :)

Ok, while I was writing this the final backup is running.

Take care my friends!

I can't believe there are no comments. Maybe it is because everyone is so shocked about your announcement to end Urland. This is truly a loss for the whole community. I really hope you will find a way to get SC4 up and running again and continue this amazing MD. It has been an inspiration for me and many others.

It's terrible to hear you're having so much trouble with SC4 lately.  I really hope you can sort out a solution, I'd hate to see Urland come to an end.  Good luck!

calibanX

I hope you're able to sort out that problem. At the very least I hope you have your MD and your plugins copied to a disk so you can jump back in at some point. Good luck to you.

Some quick replies ...

Sorry for not being very active at the moment but I do have some serious RL problems at the moment besides my Windows problem ...  &mmm

@RickD: Well, it is not the end of Urland just the beginning of an another hiatus due to technical reasons. There had been quite some in the last 5 years (yup, 5th anniversary of Urland will be end of June this year). Anyway anything is backed up on an external disk and waits to be waken up. In the meantime I found out I can still use Win7  ... at least a little bit. After a while I'm drawn to the Desktop with the message that the RC has run off. This means going back, saving everything and reboot. Rather anoying on my old machine, and it will be more annoying as the usable intervalls will become shorter untill Win7 won't stzart at all in June or July...

@Battlecat: The easiest solution would be getting running again under XP. Right now trying to run Sc4 does not result in CTD but VSoD with changing error codes ...

@calibanX: You can bet on this! ;)

@Engorn: Thanks for the compliment!

In the meantime I have another picture for you. It is rather successfull in the 3rd (of 5) round in the picture comp at the Simforum. I tried to sneak it in the SC4D competition, too, but wasn't successful in catching the right moment:

I made some more pics, would be enough for a small updates plus some thoughts on pine woods. If you want to ....

Have fun!

Awesome  rural pic there love the radio mast

Battlecat

Very cool scene there!  The radio mast is a great touch, but the winding road leading up to it is even cooler.

I am sorry that you have such technical problems, but I am glad to hear there are backups of Urland. I certainly hope we will be able to enjoy your unique way of developing a MD still in the future.

The last image is a great one, with farms as you can only see them in Urland.

Take care

I am very sorry to see that Urland is about to end because of Microsoft's policies. As for your problem with windows XP, you can always try to re-install windows XP (if you have an install disc which should have come with your computer).  I really hope you can continue Urland because I think it would be a great loss for the community to see it end. Mostly because your rural landscapes look so real.
Take care

Say it isn't so!  &ops  I'm sorry about the SC4 problems, Bernhard.  Have you tried some of the troubleshooting parameters [linkie]?  I read about one, -audio:off, that may correct sound card problems by turning the game's sound off.  It would mean playing with no sound, but that could be better than not playing at all.  I truly hope you get the XP problem fixed.

On a lighter note, that certainly is a good picture.  :)
