Everything thus far has been amazing. Here is my contribution to the whole thing:

Masochist

Hello!  I like what's going on in here!  I have a couple of questions and comments...

Frankie
: One rail line?  Did I miss something!?  The way it curves around that barn is fantastic!

Jackie: Okay, I gotta say it: you're insane!  And by insane, I mean insanely good.  I've only ever called two other people insane, and they were AK and El Burro.  I mean, look at those cliffs!  They're gorgeous!  Unbelievable work, yes!

threestooges: That second picture reminds me of a backroad in South Texas, the way the road runs through the small towns and between farms like that.  Are those clay streets or red brick?  Or something else?  I can't tell, but they look interesting.  Nice job!

Great rural area! Fantastic details, threestooges

thankyou so much you wouldnt believe the time it has took so far terraforming lol and still doing it as i build lol

awesome work you guys beautifull rural

threestooges

Thanks for the comments. If you are interested, the first is just a zoomed in section of the second (just right of the center of the 2nd pic). Most trees you see dividing the farms are hiding canals.

--Masochist: I've never been to Texas so I wouldn't know their style, but what I did is partly inspired by some farms/vineyards in central California and by Digby and Anduin Valley Revisited (both of the Simtropolis website). I just draw out a few roads/streets and see where the farms want to fit in. Any space left over usually becomes filled with trees or something. The streets are just a red brick mod (or whatever they're called) by ardecila which can be located here. It's a herringbone (fish bone) pattern and stays the same across wealth levels if you want. I find it useful to avoid nasty/abrupt wealth transitions that can happen.

Cali

very very good work, the agriculture is awesome. i see the same style here in southern cal .the farming is the same.

OK, here is my small attempt.  It's the start of my region and is still small.  Sorry I caught it in late autumn so most of the leaves are gone.  WIll get a nice early autumn one when I get the chance.

threestooges

Nice use of the irrigation canals intertwined with the farms. Two suggestions I have though that tend to spruce up any pic: get rid of the u-drive-it icons and use the 'g' key to turn off the grid. Overall, it looks like a good start.

Diggis

Ahh, good point.  I have flicked the UDI icos off already, but will disable the grid tonight.  This is my first attempt at really pretty cities, I'll post the other city tomorrow.

Hello Diggis

Any idea what is causing the dilapidation of farmlands near the windmill power plants? I thought it might have been pollution caused by traffic ... but I see the neighbor connection near the bottom of your screen shot and suddenly I wasn't so sure.

I have one to share and it is a bit different. I created a representation of a 17th century plantation owned by Ens Thomas Savage, the first European to settle on Virginia's Eastern Shore in 1618. I used SC4 and lot editor to accomplish this. This image and several others were used in a video during the recent play "Piece of Eden" at the historic Palace Theatre in Cape Charles, Virginia. I suppose it shows that SC4 has other uses than just a game.

Cali

that's absolutely beautiful. and very detailed to the 17th century. i love it

Jmyres: I checked the fields, and had to bulldoze a couple to be sure, but the dapilidated ones have high traffic and the others don't so I guess it's that.  Weird though because there is no polution, except for the cabbage fields.

Cali, thank you for kind words. The best thing about that setup was the faces of the cast and crew when I told them is was SimCity. Using Vegas 6, we able to zoom in and bring the audiance right into the scene on stage. I think I proved the worth of the game.

threestooges

Well, Alek.....That is... wow...amazing not only for its detail, but also its scale. Were you able to create this just going through once, or was there a fair amount of planning that went into it? I would be interested to know.

Very scenic rural pics here
